The most beautiful design in the world can turn out to be a critical failure if the user cannot find what they are looking for. That's why every digital delicacy should be tasted and, if necessary, spiced up before it is served. In usability testing, experts and test subjects from the target group take a close look at websites, apps and various prototypes and provide valuable insights for optimisation. We test in order to understand the behaviour of the target group, uncover weaknesses at an early stage and develop a product with perfect usability for you in the long term.
Understanding users with usability testing
We are officially certified partners
The key to sustainable optimisation of digital experiences
Analysis
By analysing the target and actual situation in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9241-11, we gain an overview and gather impressions such as strengths and weaknesses that determine the further course of action.
Test planning
Processes and scenarios are sketched out for the upcoming tests. We determine the profile of the target persons, select suitable testing software and create tasks.
Preparation
Our final preparations include recruiting qualified test subjects, organising the premises and setting up the necessary hardware for the test.
Execution & moderation
The testing is carried out using the selected methods and guided by our usability experts. We record the completion of the prepared tasks.
Evaluation
This is followed by an evaluation of the collected material and the development of specific optimisation proposals. We provide you with all relevant results including a catalogue of measures for improvements.

A whole Crew for your project?
How we work on your digital product will be organised according to your requirements: You can leave the complete planning and implementation of a project in the hands of ONEDOT or book specific expertise for your team.
From thinking aloud to eye-tracking: usability testing methods for more conversion
The following also applies in the digital space: The bait has to appeal to the fish, not the angler! However, those who can prove whether the bait tastes good or not catch the most fish. We therefore carry out our user tests using scientific methods. Each test is preceded by meticulous preparation, including product analyses and strategic determination of the target group. We then create representative test scenarios in which the test subjects are confronted with products and prototypes and have to solve specific tasks.
Depending on the requirements, identified target persons, typical ordinary users or experienced usability testers test the designs. They are guided by our usability experts and recorded in various ways: In Thinking Aloud, the test person speaks their thought processes out loud and records them to make the entire test experience comprehensible. Other indispensable forms of recording are screen recordings or heat maps that document every mouse click. Eye tracking - the recording of the user's gaze - is one way of tracking even unconscious user behaviour. The subsequent analysis often provides surprising and unexpected insights into the product. From the collected data, we extract ideas and measures to improve user-friendliness - concrete steps towards an excellent overview, ease of use and a high conversion rate.
We use usability tests at various stages of the development process to gather information about how the target group interacts with the product. This includes testing prototypes and click dummies as well as testing on existing digital presences. In all scenarios, feedback from real users is an invaluable addition to the work of our strategists, designers and web developers because it provides an objective picture of the product, which enables our team to make clear and quick decisions.
In general, the earlier the testing, the greater the financial benefit. In the early stages of development, changes and improvements require much less effort than shortly before implementation or during operation. We therefore gather user feedback with early static drafts or interactive prototypes and use the resulting optimisations to avoid costly adjustments later in the development process. For existing products, on the other hand, usability tests make a decisive contribution to further development.
If usability is constantly scrutinised and improved, from the initial idea through to development and ongoing operation, this will have a noticeably positive impact on your success. ‘Don't make the user think’, said usability expert Steve Krug - and we completely agree. Users appreciate good usability and follow their instincts to websites that offer them a natural flow and lead them to their goal without effort.
In the e-commerce sector, for example, only those users who successfully complete an order process generate sales. In order to achieve this ‘goal’, good design, clarity and intuitive usability are fundamental prerequisites. The more obstacles users face during the purchasing process, the more likely they are to turn away disappointed and frustrated - the bounce rate increases and sales fall. Usability testing makes problematic areas visible to us and enables us to remove obstacles. This results in decisive increases in conversion and turnover as well as differentiation from the competition - because users like your shop better than the rest!
In order to develop a product with an outstanding user experience, we not only need our expertise and practical experience, but also you, so that the user is offered an experience - in whatever form - that perfectly conveys your vision. In our UX workshop, we develop digital solutions together and always put the user at the centre, from the user journey to prototyping.
Our usability experts invite you to our modern studio between the metropolitan areas of Frankfurt and Mannheim, welcome you to our location in Leipzig or visit you directly on site to develop your UX strategy. The complex results - blueprints for digital solutions with maximum user-friendliness - ultimately make the difference between off-the-shelf products and your authentic user experience.
