Our ONEDOT Christmas fairy tale for 2022

With numerous moments of success and great projects behind us and nothing more than the normal stress of December around our ears, 2022 is coming to an end for the ONEDOT crew. We like to use this time of year to think of everyone who has supported us throughout the year and placed their trust in us: A small gift as a Christmas greeting to customers and partners - the perfect opportunity to say ‘thank you’ with a creative idea.

Spreading joy just before the end of the year is motivating and inspiring; over the years, we have already come up with a wide variety of ideas, from local specialities from the Odenwald to limited-edition, self-designed Raumfahrer beer, including a social media campaign. When the time finally came again this year, the search for ideas led us into the world of culinary delights - and ended in an unexpected way in a completely different place.

A wooden spoon makes the start

A delicious selection of high-quality pasta, gourmet pesto and original Italian olive oil etc. sounded like a great idea. As a small highlight, there should also be a wooden cooking utensil with ONEDOT branding. You can always use it at home and it reminds you of the Crew every time you use it - brilliant! No sooner said than done, a box of wooden cooking spoons appeared on Chef Tommy's desk.

And the rest? When it came to the food, we had a much harder time choosing: different recipients prefer different ingredients. And if we can't bring something unique to the table, our Christmas greeting loses its appeal, because at the end of the day, everyone can get their own personal favourite ingredients from our list. This realisation was the first glimpse over the edge of the spoon:

We don't leave the impression we want with a gift like this. We can all buy ourselves something to eat. But there are people who have nothing to eat and perhaps we should think about them too, especially in these times.

Luca Iezzi, Managing Director ONEDOT

A new idea was born: Fill not only the stomachs of the recipients, but also those of people in need and double the joy with every gift. The plan was to donate one meal per box given away. After more detailed research, however, it turned out that this approach would be difficult to realise due to logistical problems - so this plan was also discarded.

The more we thought about it, the clearer it became that we couldn't find a perfect all-round solution and instead had to ask ourselves what was most important to us. In the end, it was decided that this year, instead of filling the larders of our recipients, we wanted to fill hungry stomachs. ONEDOT sent Christmas greetings in the form of a financial donation to the Michelstadt food bank, through which we support the local supply of food and other necessities to those in need.

Only one question remained unanswered

What do we send to everyone else? Panic, chaos and confusion were the order of the day - after all, we didn't want the campaign to go off without a Christmas greeting. However, the solution was waiting right before our eyes: a box full of ONEDOT cooking spoons on Tommy's desk. (If you order cooking spoons, you have to send them!) A single long spoon alone doesn't make much of a gift - but even that can tell a story.

Finally: a fairy tale of heaven and hell

A rabbi comes to God: ‘Lord, I want to see hell and also heaven.’ - ‘Take Elijah as your guide,’ says the Creator, ‘he will show you both.’ The prophet takes the rabbi by the hand.

He leads him into a large room. All around are people with long spoons. In the centre, boiling on a fire, a pot with a delicious dish. Everyone is scooping from the pot with their long spoons. But the people look gaunt, pale, miserable. No wonder: their spoons are too long. They can't bring them to their mouths. The delicious food cannot be savoured.

The two go outside: ‘What strange room was that?’ the rabbi asks the prophet. ‘Hell,’ is the answer.

They enter a second room. Everything is exactly the same as in the first. People with long spoons all around. In the centre, boiling on a fire, a pot with a delicious dish. Everyone was scooping from the pot with their long spoons.

But - one difference to the first room: these people look healthy, well-fed, happy. ‘How come?’ The rabbi looks closely. Then he sees the reason: these people are shoving their spoons into each other's mouths. They are feeding each other.

The rabbi knows where he is.

ONEDOT would like to thank all its customers and partners whose support makes such campaigns possible. The Crew wishes you happy holidays and a good start to the new year!
